Former UCF 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall took a step forward during his push to make it onto an NBA roster.
Fall was among 50 players invited to participate in the NBA G League developmental scouting combine. He impressed enough to be one of 10 athletes promoted to participate in the NBA scouting combine starting Thursday in Chicago. The main combine pool consists of athletes in top consideration for selection in the upcoming NBA draft.
During the G League workouts, Fall was measured and tested in various areas, including his vertical leap. He then joined other players participating in pick-up games, showcasing their skills for scouts.
"We came, we competed," Fall said in a video posted on the G League Twitter account. " ... I feel like it was a good run, a good run for us. That's all you can ask, for people to come and compete and show what they can do."
Fall, who just earned his UCF bachelor's degree last week, helped the Knights deliver the best season in school history. UCF earned the first NCAA Tournament at-large bid and first NCAA Tournament win before narrowly falling to Duke in the second round of the tournament.
Fall previously tested his NBA options, but he was encouraged to return to school and keep working on his development. He improved steadily all four seasons with the Knights despite dealing with multiple injuries. His free-throw shooting form faced the greatest scrutiny his senior year, but the issues were caused, in part, by a wrist injury. After recovering from the injury, Fall has a chance to show offer better form during the combine.
