T20 World Cup: Special 'bouncer training' for perfectionist Rishabh Pant

NEW YORK: Rishabh Pant desperately wants to get it right. It's his comeback for India after a horrific accident and the effort that the Delhi boy put in on Tuesday at the nets was phenomenal.

The pitch here is playing unpredictable, the bounce being uneven, and the shot the wicket-keeper batter wanted to perfect, for more than an hour, was the hook. "Bouncer dalo, boss," he kept telling the throwdown expert if the latter missed his length by an inch.

There is a chance that Pant will be promoted to No. 3 to keep the left-right combo going, and the maverick just wants to leave no stone unturned. The ball whizzed past his face a few times on a practice pitch that was slightly unpredictable, to say the least.

Normally top batters don't want to risk themselves against pace so close to a World Cup opener. But Pant is different. "Get it right bhai, bouncer khelna hain mujhe (I have to play bouncers)," he kept demanding as the throwdown expert seemed to run a little out of breath. The ball did hit a couple of times, but it didn't matter.

Pant played spectacularly on Saturday against Bangladesh and if his work-out at the nets on Tuesday is anything to go by, we are in for a treat from the Delhi boy who never gives up.
