A bunch of Aussie Wicked fans have been changed for good after Jonathan Bailey made a surprise appearance at a Sydney screening of Wicked: For Good over the weekend.
The actor and certified sexiest man alive — who plays Fiyero in the sequel — rocked up unannounced at Darling Harbour’s IMAX Theatre to leave dozens of audience members swooning on Sunday night.
“I’ve just landed in Aus,” Bailey said in a clip just moments before he greeted fans. “I wanted to return to the real land of Oz.”

Bailey’s visit arrives exactly one year after Wicked kicked off its first press tour Down Under, and this time, he brought along his family to watch on “the fourth biggest screen in the Southern Hemisphere, baby”.
“I’m really excited to surprise a few people, but it’s always lovely to be back in Sydney and it’s always lovely to support Wicked: For Good,” he said.
I know it was for the people, but it’s impossible not to think he was speaking directly to me.
Shortly after, Bailey waltzed into the cinema to rapturous cheers, with some in the crowd (rightfully) jolting off their seats for a standing ovation.
Bailey’s surprise arrival adds to a press tour for the sequel that was somehow as headline-grabbing as the first one (remember “holding space”?), with fan Jonson Wen getting all the wrong kind of attention after ambushing Ariana Grande in Singapore.

Elsewhere, the reviews for Wicked: For Good came flying in on a broomstick of positivity, even if the consensus didn’t quite live up to its predecessor.
Soon, the Oz dust will settle on Wicked’s two-year promo blitz, and all we’ll be left with is Bailey’s infinite charm and the space we all collectively held for the lyrics to “Defying Gravity”.
