Swansea manager makes Daniel James Premier League claim amid Man City transfer speculation

Swansea manager Graham Potter claims Daniel James is destined for a move to a top Premier League club amid recent speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City.

Wales international James has been a standout performer for Swansea this season and was a star performer for the Championship club in their FA Cup quarter-final defeat against City last month.

The 21-year-old marked his rise to stardom with a first senior goal for Wales over the recent international break, and his club manager thinks this is just the beginning of his inevitable rise to the top.

James was close to a move to Leeds in the January transfer window before Swansea pulled the plug on a proposed deadline day move. Many are tipping the Welsh midfielder to attract more serious interest at the end of the season, and Potter insists the youngster has the quality to play for a team like City.

"It is not for me to announce values and prices," Potter said.

"(But) against Manchester City (in the FA Cup in March) he matches the physicality of Kyle Walker, for example, and runs away from players at that level.

"That's a direct comparison against Premier League players at the very top and you can see his quality.

"He plays alongside Gareth Bale (for Wales) and doesn't look out of place.

"You look at his attributes and how he influences games at Championship level. He causes teams real, real problems.

"It's up to the market to decide the rest, but I'm happy to have him with me and long may it continue."
