Swansea City eyeing up free transfer for former Tottenham starlet - reports

Swansea City have entered the race for Plymouth Argyle forward Ruben Lameiras, according to reports.

Much of the focus at the Liberty Stadium has unsurprisingly been centred around the search for a new manager, but it's understood the club is still looking forward to the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider the Swans are keen on making a move for the Portuguese midfielder, who's out of contract at Plymouth at the end of next month and looks almost certain to move on following the Pilgrims' relegation to League Two.

Having been one of Plymouth's shining lights during an otherwise poor campaign, Lameiras is believed to have attracted the attention of several other clubs, including French side Bordeaux.

The Spurs academy product netted 12 goals and nine assists in 45 games for Argyle last season, and has reportedly been recommended by Tottenham's highly respected academy chief John McDermott.

WalesOnline understands that contact has not yet been made with the player's representatives, but a move has not been ruled out at this stage.

Meanwhile, Swansea insiders have played down the chances of the club signing Jonny Williams.

The midfielder, who came off the bench to help Charlton to victory in the League One play-off final over the weekend, has also been tipped as a potential target for the Swans, with his current contract at parent club Crystal Palace set to expire next month.

Brentford and Luton Town have also been mentioned as being interested, but there has not yet been any approach from the Swans.
