Collingwood have kept Sydney goalless for three quarters, emphatically ending the Swans' perfect start to the AFLW season with a shock 26-point win.

Kalinda Howarth kicked 3.3 and midfielders Sarah Rowe and Brittany Bonnici also starred on Saturday as the Magpies dominated 6.7 (43) to 2.5 (17).

Compounding the bad day for Sydney, Lexi Hamilton was in distress after a blow to her chest in a marking contest, forcing her from the field in the third term.

Then Irish recruit Julia O'Sullivan also went off when she landed awkwardly in the final quarter and her left knee buckled.

The Swans started the game as hot favourites, one of four teams to boast 4-0 records.

But Victoria Park has often been a visitors' graveyard for more than a century, and the Swans were never in the contest.

It is Collingwood's second win and the wooden spooners from last season improved to 10th with a 2-3 record.

Howarth and No.1 draft pick Ash Centra kicked early goals to put Collingwood in control, while Sydney did not score in the opening term.

The Magpies broke out to a six-goal lead when Howarth kicked her third, five minutes into the final quarter.

Then Swans co-captain Chloe Molloy forced a turnover.

Montana Ham capitalised, kicking an outstanding goal on the run at seven minutes to break their drought.

Molloy kicked their second goal a few minutes later, but there was no chance of a miracle comeback.

Collingwood dominated general play, racking up 59 more possessions.

Sydney had their chances, winning the inside-50s 35-24, but the Magpies were rock-solid in defence.

Rowe had 24 disposals, while Bonnici had a game-high 29 possessions, plus eight tackles.

Midfielder Laura Gardiner toiled hard for the Swans, with 28 disposals and a game-high 10 tackles.
