A sleeping woman has had a miraculous escape after an out-of-control SUV crashed through the wall of her home in the dead of night, pinning her to her bed.
Police, ambulance and fire rescue crews rushed to the residence at Bargo, south of Sydney, shortly before midnight on Saturday, where they found the vehicle inside the front bedroom.
The terrified 54-year-old in the bed was trapped by her legs, as was the 46-year-old female behind the wheel of the SUV.
Police say a man and two teenage girls were also in different rooms of the Jack Davis Place house at the time of the crash. None were hurt.
NSW Ambulance Inspector David Kynaston praised paramedics and fire crews who worked quickly to free both women in a difficult situation.
"This was more than just a really rude shock for the woman in the home. To go to bed and then be jolted awake by a car crashing onto her must have been really frightening," he said in a statement.
"The woman suffered lower leg injuries and thankfully that was all. It would have been a terrifying ordeal as well for the family who were at home at the time."
The resident was taken to Campbelltown Hospital where she continues to be treated for a minor injury to her left leg.
The driver was transported to Liverpool Hospital where she underwent a medical check on a back injury as well as mandatory testing.
She is also from Bargo.
The house sustained significant structural damage.
