Suspected killer faces second murder charge over woman's death in south London

Simon Levy, 40, was arrested for both offences on September 4 - (PA Wire)

A north London man accused of murdering a sex worker and violently attacking another has been charged with murdering a third woman.

Simon Levy, 40, has been charged with killing 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo after she was found dead on the Aylesbury Estate in Southwark on March 17.

Scotland Yard announced the new murder charge on Monday, with Levy set to appear in the dock on Tuesday at Westminster magistrates court.

Levy is already in custody on suspicion of murdering 39-year-old Sheryl Wilkins, who was found dead on the morning of August 24 in a car park in High Road, Tottenham.

He is set to be tried for Ms Wilkins murder alongside allegations that he twice raped, seriously assaulted, and strangled another sex worker in Haringey on January 21.

When announcing the new murder charge, Met detectives issued an appeal for more of Levy’s suspected victims to come forward.

He has been in custody since his arrest on suspicion of Ms Wilkins’ murder.

“We think the scale of Levy’s alleged offending may be wider”, said Commander Klair Kelland.

“There may be people aware of Levy who have not yet made a report to police.”

The force said in its appeal: “Detectives believe there may be individuals who have information relevant to this investigation - or who are yet to report incidents which have directly impacted them – and are asking for people to come forward.”

Levy, who has not yet entered pleas to the charges, is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.

The Met Police previously said a post-mortem examination after Ms Valencia-Trujillo’s body was discovered had failed, initially, to establish a cause of death.

Levy was arrested at the time and released under investigation.

Jaswant Narwal of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service, the Crown Prosecution Service has made the decision to prosecute Simon Levy for the murder of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, a 54-year-old-woman from Colombia.

“Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo was found dead in the stairwell of a building on Thurlow Road in Southwark on 17 March 2025.”

“Simon Levy will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 25 November 2025.

“We remind all concerned that proceedings against the defendant are active and he has a right to a fair trial.

“It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in anyway prejudice these proceedings.”

At an early court hearing, it was revealed Levy is blind in one eye. He was allowed to wear sunglasses in the dock.

Levy, of Beaufoy Road, Tottenham, is now charged with two counts of murder, two counts of rape, causing grievous bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
