Suspected dangerous driver stopped by police using stinger

A driver lost control and crashed after a stinger was deployed during a police chase in Stockport.

The car was being followed by officers on Bird Hall Lane when the stinger was used to deflate the tyres.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drink and drug driving and for failing to stop.

Photos of the mangled wreckage of the Vauxhall Insignia were posted on Twitter by GMP's traffic police.

The spike strip used to deflate the wheels was also pictured.

The full tweet by GMP Traffic on Sunday morning read: "The driver of this Insignia failed to stop for #XT28.

"Stinger deployed to deflate tyres then he lost control and crashed on Bird Hall Lane, Stockport.

"Arrested Dangerous Drive / Drink / Drug Drive & fail to stop.

"A day in court awaits."
