Suspect found hiding in undergrowth after scrambler bike crash

Two scrambler bike riders tried to flee police after crashing a bike.

The riders ran from the scene after slamming the vehicle into railings in Kirkby.

Two suspects were found after a police helicopter was scrambled - with one discovered hiding in undergrowth.

The incident unfolded after the off-road bike came to the attention of police patrols on Moorgate Road North just before 6.45pm on Sunday.

The riders crashed into a railing near a pedestrian crossing and those on board attempted to run away.

Merseyside Police said a 19-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent and obstructing police, and a 20-year-old man from Stockbridge Village was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, and driving with no insurance.

They have since been released under investigation.
