Suspect Charged With Capital Murder In Texas Girl's Death

Livingston authorities charge suspect with capital murder in Audrey Cunningham case.

Authorities in Livingston have officially charged a suspect with capital murder in connection to the tragic death of 11-year-old Audrey Cunningham. The young girl was found deceased in a river with a large rock tied to her body, sparking a harrowing investigation.

According to charging documents, the suspect allegedly left his residence with Audrey in his 2003 blue suburban under the guise of driving her to the bus stop. However, when the school bus arrived, Audrey was nowhere to be found. The suspect initially claimed he had dropped her off at the bus stop, but evidence from cell phone data and video surveillance placed him at key locations, including near the Trinity River where Audrey's body was discovered.

Due to adverse weather conditions and water levels, authorities faced challenges in recovering the body, ultimately locating it with a rope tied to a large rock to weigh it down. Notably, a recent police encounter with the suspect revealed a similar rope in his vehicle, adding to the circumstantial evidence against him.

While the case currently relies on circumstantial evidence, investigators are poised to gather scientific data from the autopsy, potential DNA samples, and forensic analysis of the suspect's vehicle to strengthen their case. Despite maintaining his innocence on social media platforms, the suspect remains under scrutiny as the investigation progresses.
