Suspect, 21, named after man and woman stabbed on 'quiet street'

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after two people were stabbed in the back and chest.

Emergency services were called out to Southgate Road in Old Swan at around 3.15pm yesterday ( Wednesday) following reports that two people had been stabbed.

A man and woman suffered wounds to the chest and back. They were both taken to hospital but their injuries were not thought to be life threatening.

Today police have said that Lauren Walsh, 21, of Packenham Road, West Derby has been charged with two counts of attempted murder. She has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court this morning.

Police were back at the scene of the incident on Southgate Road this morning ( Thursday). A front door was behind a police cordon and was covered in plastic sheeting.

The man and woman who were stabbed are believed to be a young couple, who had lived on the street for a few months and "kept themselves to themselves."

A neighbour she said: "They seem like a nice young couple, my daughter used to go to school with her. They seemed really quiet and always kept themselves to themselves.

"Nothing ever happens in this street it's like an old fashioned street, we all keep an eye on each other.

Police remain at Southgate Road this morning (Liverpool Echo)

"It's just shocking something like this has happened.

"It's why it's such a shock that something like this has happened."

Yesterday neighbours described distressing scenes after the incident.
