Susanna Reid reveals all about friendship with Piers Morgan after his explosive GMB exit

Susanna Reid has spilled the beans about her friendship with former co-star Piers Morgan.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 51, spoke candidly about her "really good friend" Piers during a brand new interview, and admitted the Talk TV star's Christmas party is a star-studded bash not to be missed.

Susanna's time sharing the sofa with Piers on Good Morning Britain came to an abrupt end in March 2021, when the broadcaster stormed off set after he was questioned regarding his controversial comments surrounding the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle 's experience with poor mental health.

Piers, who became a Good Morning Britain anchor in October 2015, has since gone on to front his own show on Rupert Murdoch's new channel TalkTV, while Susanna is still presenting ITV's flagship breakfast show with the likes of Richard Madeley and former MP Ed Balls.

"Piers Morgan is still a really good friend," Susanna begins gushing in her new interview. "It was lovely at the Television And Radio Industries Club Awards 2021 when he shared his Best News Presenter award with me.

"Since Piers left, we’re still in touch regularly. His legendary Christmas party is not to be missed!"

The presenter goes on to tell Women & Home magazine: "We have a million brilliant people working on our show and I love the rotation of male presenters. In the words of the late great Sir Bruce, they’re all my favourites!"

Piers sparked a record 58,000 complaints to Ofcom last year when he told Good Morning Britain viewers he "didn't believe a word" Meghan had said during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The broadcaster locked horns with Alex Beresford before storming off the ITV breakfast show's set, thanks to the weatherman telling Piers: "I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle. You've made it so clear a number of times on this programme.

"I understand you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off… she's entitled to cut you off if she wants to.

"Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has, but yet you continue to trash her."

Discussing his exit from the ITV show earlier this year, Piers claimed people had tried to cancel him ahead of launching his new TalkTV venture.

"I used to think I was uncensored, and then of course when I left Good Morning Britain, it turned out that I actually was being censored in the sense that I was told I had to apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio or I would have to leave the building," Piers claimed in April.

Looking back on his dramatic on-air resignation, he added: "So I took the leave-the-building option, which I thought was a sad moment for me and for the show. I thought it was the wrong call by ITV.

"It was all a bit dramatic, but of course what it really did was focus everyone's minds to, 'what is free speech?'"
