Suryakumar Yadav holds 2nd spot, Yashasvi Jaiswal climbs to 6th place in ICC T20I batting rankings

NEW DELHI: Suryakumar Yadav, the hard-hitting Indian batsman, secured the second position in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings released on Wednesday while young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal claimed the sixth spot.

Ruturaj Gaikwad slipped one place to eighth in the updated T20 batters' list following India's recent 4-1 series victory against Zimbabwe.

Jaiswal emerged as a significant gainer, climbing four places to rank behind Australia's Travis Head, who holds the top position, and Suryakumar, after scoring 141 runs in the series.

Shubman Gill, who captained India in the absence of senior players and topped the series with 170 runs from five innings, made an impressive leap of 36 places to reach 37th position.

The T20I bowlers rankings do not feature any Indian in the top 10. Axar Patel, who was given a break for the Zimbabwe series, dropped four places to 13th position. However, fast bowler Mukesh Kumar and spinner Washington Sundar made notable progress.

Mukesh, who claimed eight wickets from three matches, climbed 36 places to reach 46th spot, while Washington, who took eight wickets in five games, rose 21 spots to 73rd rank.

England's Adil Rashid leads the T20I bowlers' chart, followed by South Africa's Anrich Nortje and Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga.

In the T20I all-rounders' rankings, India's Hardik Pandya and Axar have dropped to sixth and 13th positions, respectively.

Washington and Shivam Dube have risen by eight and 35 places to occupy 41st and 43rd spots, respectively.

Sri Lanka's Hasaranga maintains his top position in the all-rounders' list, ahead of Australia's Marcus Stoinis and Zimbabwe's captain, Sikandar Raza.
