Surrogacy racket: Unmarried woman who bore baby held

NAGPUR: In yet another development in the surrogacy racket, the sleuths of crime branch police on Thursday arrested an unmarried woman — Sonali (name changed) — for reportedly agreeing to accept Rs15,000 from the fake BAMS doctor Vilas Bhoyar for selling her baby to a Hyderabad couple.

The crime branch police also obtained police custody remand of the 23-year-old resident of Shanti Nagar till March 27. It is learnt that Bhoyar had promised Rs15,000 to Sonali after her delivery. As she delivered a baby girl, Bhoyar did not pay even a single penny to Sonali, police investigation revealed.

Earlier, police arrested Vilas Bhoyar, Rahul alias Moreshwar Dajiba Nimje, and Naresh alias Dnyaneshwar Raut in this case and they are in police custody till March 27.
