If there’s one viral flavour that has no risk of disappearing anytime soon, it has to be pistachio. With a wide range of pistachio-based Easter treats already appearing on supermarket shelves for 2026, I’ve been busy tasting a selection to find this year’s best pistachio eggs.
While the nut has brought texture and taste to goodies for years, the Dubai chocolate bar (originally released by FIX Chocolatier in 2022) sent the world drooling for the bar filled with pistachio cream and knafeh pastry. It has since become a must-have flavour, with supermarkets and chocolatiers have been reinventing it in bars, truffles, chocolates, protein bars and now Easter eggs to satisfy growing cravings
I’ve tasted a selection of these pistachio treats while putting together IndyBest’s guide to the best Easter eggs 2026, and several truly stand out. Whether you’re shopping for a a loved one or simply can’t get enough of the nutty flavour yourself, here’s a round-up of the best pistachio Easter eggs to buy at supermarkets this year.

How I tested

I’ve tested more than 30 Easter eggs this year, and it’s clear that pistachio is not going anywhere. To find the best pistachio Easter eggs of the bunch, I took note of the quality of the chocolate, the pistachio flavour as well as the egg’s thickness, packaging, and value for money.

M&S extra thick pistachio and milk chocolate egg

Best: pistachio Easter egg overall
Weight: 485g
Why we love it
- Silky chocolate
- Thick shell
Take note
- Expensive
This pistachio Easter egg from M&S really raises the bar this year – and not just in the nut category. It’s a silky, heavy and elegantly presented egg, and as I noted in my review “it comes in a beautiful navy and lime green hat-box-like container finished with a ribbon which, after taking the lid off, reveals an elegant egg standing up like it deserves some sort of ovation”. The pistachio is sweet but well-balanced when combined with the high-quality milk chocolate. Plus, the shell is adorned with whole and chopped roasted pistachios.

Asda exceptional pistachio and himalayan salt white chocolate egg

Best: white chocolate pistachio Easter egg
Weight: 200g
Why we love it
- Generous amount of salt to balance sweetness
- Nibs throughout
Take note
- Not as high quality chocolate as others
Despite expecting overly sweet things from this white chocolate and pistachio egg, I was happily proved wrong with a heavy hand taken to the Himalayan salt. The shell is truly chock-full of the nuts, with pistachio nut paste and roasted chopping pistachios bringing the flavour. The egg is also beautifully presented with hand-decorated lime green drizzle.

Waitrose the cracking pistachio Easter egg

Best: blonde pistachio Easter egg
Weight: 320g
Why we love it
- Eye-catching design
- More nibs this year
Take note
- Very sweet
One of the most viral pistachio Easter treats is back this year and Waitrose has upped the nut levels. The egg has a white chocolate and caramelised sugar shell, with a pistachio green inner, which cleverly peaks through like a real nut.
For those who like a super-sweet blonde chocolate, this is your egg. The shell has biscuity butterscotch notes (the addition of salt helps to lift the sweetness), while the inner pistachio egg is generously dotted with real pistachio pieces that create a nice texture.

M&S the big daddy pistachio loaded half egg

Best: loaded pistachio Easter egg
Weight: 315g
Why we love it
- Varied texture
- Weighty egg
Take note
- Caramel overwhelms the pistachio flavour
While I preferred the peanut iteration of the loaded half egg from M&S, for pistachio lovers this is the one for you. In an Easter spin of the supermarket’s viral big daddy pistachio bar, the loaded half egg pairs the nut with soft caramel, chewy caramel pieces and roasted pistachio chunks.
Compared to other pistachio treats, I didn’t find the flavour all that nutty but the textures are on point, as is the creativity.

What is the best pistachio Easter egg?
The extra thick pistachio Easter egg from M&S sets a new standard this year. Luxurious, substantial, and beautifully presented – it’s a showstopper. The pistachio flavour is delightfully sweet yet balanced, perfectly complementing the rich, high-quality milk chocolate. Whole and chopped roasted pistachios on the shell add extra crunch and nutty depth. From its presentation to its taste, this egg delivers on every level, making it my standout pick for pistachio perfection.
