Reigning AFLW premiers North Melbourne have claimed a record 17th consecutive win in scintillating fashion, beating Brisbane by 29 points in their grand final rematch.

The Lions went toe-to-toe with red hot North early but a burst of five consecutive goals across the first and second terms put the Kangaroos in pole position.

North (5-0) never looked back from there, with Brisbane unable to go with the ladder leaders' pressure and intent, and claimed a 10.5 (65) to 5.6 (36) win at Brighton Homes Arena.

"We knew it would be a good fight and they brought it ... so the girls are really happy with the win," midfielder Mia King told the Seven Network.

"We try not to think about being undefeated. We're just really focusing on the group, week-in, week-out."

The Kangaroos' Irish sensation Blaithin Bogue (three goals, one assist) was immense, and now has 11 goals from her first five AFLW games.

Kate Shierlaw (six marks), Tahlia Randall (two goals) and Jenna Bruton (two goals) were also lively.

Mia King (32 disposals, 10 tackles), Ashleigh Riddell (35 disposals), and skipper Jasmine Garner (24 disposals and a goal), on return from an ankle injury, all had plenty of the ball.

For Brisbane, Courtney Hodder (19 disposals) provided a spark while Ally Anderson (25 disposals and a goal) and Orla O'Dwyer (24 disposals) were busy.

Lions defender Nat Grider was ruled out with concussion in the second term and Ellie Hampson had to come off early in the third with a right shoulder injury.

Kangaroos Vikki Wall (elbow) and Taylah Gatt (ankle) sat out the final quarter.

Brisbane got off to the perfect start when Dakota Davidson kicked the opening goal.

The first quarter had four lead changes, before Randall nudged North out to a seven-point advantage after the quarter-time siren, thanks to a 50-metre penalty.

Bruton kicked a magnificent checkside goal midway through the second term and Garner and Bogue followed in quick succession.

All of a sudden, the Kangaroos enjoyed a 26-point lead.

Lions forward Neasa Dooley stopped the rot, but North still led by 20 at halftime.

In the third term, Jade Ellenger slotted a wonderful goal on the run as the Lions attempted to scrap their way back in the game, but North kicked away again and led by 36 at the final change.

The Lions fought out the game, but couldn't make any inroads as the Kangaroos marched on.

Next Saturday, North host in-form Carlton at Arden Street while Brisbane (2-3) travel to face the Western Bulldogs at the Whitten Oval on S
