Super-facialist Teresa Tarmey's daily routine: high energy and hard work ethic

I’m not the world’s best morning person, to be honest. I usually wake up with a bit of difficulty, and I’m definitely guilty of hitting snooze three or four times. The one thing I really look forward to is my coffee in bed — if my boyfriend’s home, he’ll bring it to me like a princess. That’s become a bit of a morning ritual now.

Once I’ve had my coffee, I’m straight into emails. That’s probably around 7.30am. I’ll sit in bed with my phone and just get through work — those early moments are when I’m at my most focused. It’s quiet, no one’s bothering me, and I can power through a lot before the day really kicks off.

I take a few supplements in the morning, leftovers from when I visited the Mayr Clinic. They did all my blood tests and gave me a strict regime, so I’ve just continued with that. I take Essential Magnesium for sleep and Cellular Hydration to help with my energy.

I don’t eat breakfast — never have. It’s not a deliberate thing, I just got out of the habit and now I haven’t looked back. I do a form of intermittent fasting: I eat between 2pm and 8pm. It’s not super strict— if I’m travelling or on holiday, I won’t worry about it — but I try to stick to that window most days. It’s honestly the only thing that’s helped me feel balanced, especially post-menopause.

I’ll start work meetings from around 9am — I try to schedule all my business and team meetings for the morning. Then I head into clinic at midday and see clients through to about 6pm. I have lunch every day at 2pm —non-negotiable. Even when I’m travelling or at a hotel residency, I block that time out to eat.

I love reformer Pilates. I haven’t been able to go as often as I’d like to so at the moment it’s just lots of walking. I walk everywhere — often to and from work — and I like to take calls while I walk. It’s good for thinking, helps me decompress.

My skincare routine is very minimal. I’m not someone who fusses a lot in the morning. I’m not big on make-up — just some serum, SPF, a bit of mascara. Done.

I’m old school, I don’t use any wearable health tech, though I am curious about products like the Oura Ring. I sleep really well, thank god. It’s the one thing that saves me. I need eight hours, and I get it. I’m very sensitive to light, so my room has to be pitch black, but other than that I fall asleep easily.

In the evenings, I’m usually still working — doing research, catching up on business stuff. I’m also a bit of a scroller. Instagram, Pinterest — I’m trying to cut back, but I do go down rabbit holes, especially with interiors. I’m obsessed with interior design and architecture. That’s my relaxation, really. I’ll create mood boards, research wallpaper, furniture, that kind of thing.

I don’t read much — ADHD makes that hard — but I want to get into podcasts more. I’ve been listening to Diary of a CEO and really liked the Nick Jones episode. I’m trying to make that part of my wind-down.

If I had to sum up my lifestyle, I’d say it’s manic. I’m a whirlwind. My boyfriend says he burns 100 calories just from talking to me. I get bored easily, so I move a lot, travel a lot. But I crave structure too, and I love my work.

The best advice I’ve ever followed is: trust your gut. I’ve made lots of mistakes, but they’ve always led somewhere good.
