Sunderland vs Burton team news: Kimpioka on the bench as Parkinson makes two changes

Phil Parkinson made two changes to the side that started the weekend draw against Coventry City.

One of those was forced upon him with George Dobson serving a one-game suspension after accumulating five yellow cards, and his place was taken by right-back Conor McLaughlin – who was returning following a one-match ban – which meant Luke O’Nien moved into midfield to fill the gap left by Dobson.

The second change saw Duncan Watmore come into the side in place of Chris Maguire, who dropped to the bench.

Centre-back Jordan Willis was passed fit to start despite limping off on Saturday, with his injury proving to be no more serious than a bout of cramp.

Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough also made two changes, in his case to the side that lost 1-0 at Peterborough on Saturday.

He brought in Jake Buxton and Liam Boyce in place of John Brayford and David Templeton.

Sunderland: Burge, C McLaughlin, Willis, Lynch, Hume, Power, Leadbitter, O'Nien, Watmore, Grigg, McGeady

Subs: J McLaughlin, Flanagan, Sammut, Ozturk, Maguire, De Bock, Kimpioka

Burton: O'Hara, Edwards, Buxton, Wallace, Quinn, Fraser, Akins, Sarkic, Nartey, O'Toole, Boyce.

Subs: Garratt, Brayford, Daniel, Templeton, Sbarra, Anderson, Beardsley.
