Sunderland AFC transfer gossip: Young West Brom forward linked with loan move

Sunderland are monitoring young West Brom forward Ryhaan Tulloch ahead of a potential loan move in January, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claim the Black Cats are impressed by the versatile England U18 international, with manager Phil Parkinson desperate to bolster his options at the top of the pitch.

The 18-year-old England youth international can play anyway in the forward areas, but appears best suited out on the wing where he can use his pace.

Tulloch is well thought of at West Brom and was training with the first team by the time he was 16, with ex-boss Alan Pardew first recognising his potential.

This season in the U23's Premier League 2 competition he’s netted four goals and has two assists, impressing Sunderland scouts with one of each during a 6-0 win for the young Baggies over Elliott Dickman’s side.

And with injuries in recent weeks highlighting just how short of numbers Sunderland are in the forward areas, Tulloch suits perfectly the mould of player Parkinson will be hoping to add to his side in next month's transfer window, as he looks to add better balance and alternative options to his Black Cats squad.

It has been suggested that Parkinson is hoping to add as many as five new players overall next month, although he knows he will have to be patient in order to get deals over the line.

While Sunderland are potentially interested in taking Tulloch on loan, they could face competition from a host of Premier League sides next month who want to add him to their youth ranks. The Mail claim Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Southampton and Newcastle have all scouted him and have interest.
