The Meteorological Department has warned of summer storms, saying that severe weather is expected across northern Thailand from Monday through into Wednesday.
The first areas to be affected will be in the Northeast, with thunderstorms, strong winds, some hail and some heavy rain that will expand into the North and Central regions, including Bangkok and surrounding provinces, and to the East in the days that follow.
Scattered lightning was also possible, the weather office said.
At the same time, southerly and southeasterly winds are strengthening across the Northeast, Central and East regions, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Hot to very hot conditions over upper Thailand will further intensify storm activity, the forecast said.
People in affected areas are urged to avoid open spaces, large trees, unstable structures and billboards during thunderstorms.
