Rocksteady Games has confirmed there's a Suicide Squad video game in the development.
The news was shared by Rocksteady's official Twitter account, showing a picture of what appears to be Superman with a big old target on his head.
Rocksteady has previously worked on other superhero games including the Batman Arkham series, which sees you play as Batman beating the stuffing out of the crime-infested underworld of Gotham.
According to the tweet, Suicide Squad will be fully announced on August 22 during the DC Fandome event, which will be a free virtual fan experience for all DC fans to enjoy.
Eurogamer reported on the rumours back in June that Rocksteady filed for a domain name for the upcoming title and this confirms Rocksteady has been working on it.
It would be interesting to see if Rocksteady would use the same mechanics it has done for previous Arkham Knight games, which sees one character – Batman – navigate through Gotham and approaching quests to complete.
Considering how large the potential roster is for the Suicide Squad, it might have some form of multiplayer blended into it or you may just get to choose from a lineup of familiar characters.
Regardless, it seems all we can do now is wait until August 22 for the full reveal and get our first look at the game.
We can only hope for one thing: please don't let Jared Leto be used as the Joker this time around...
