Subway launches bizarre Easter sandwich and customers can try it for free

Subway are launching a new sandwich in time for Easter, but it may not be to everyone's taste.

With the Easter bank holiday weekend just days away, many of us will be stocking up on sweet treats from chocolate eggs to hot cross buns. But one food item you may or may not be keen to try is Subway's new Creme Egg sandwich.

Named the 'SubMelt', the newest menu addition has been introduced following a collaboration with Cadbury just in time for Easter. With two Creme Eggs melted onto a 6" toasted Italian white bread roll, the new option could be the ideal choice for those with a sweet tooth.

The unique and limited edition sub is described by the chain as "golden toasted on the outside and deliciously gooey on the inside".

The fast food giant is handing out the peculiar piece for free at their Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street branch, one of only four stores offering the Easter treat.

The sub will also be available at the following restaurants - London's Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool's Ranelagh Street Central Shopping Centre and Llansamlet Service Station in Swansea.

The Creme Egg sub will only be available for one day - Good Friday (Friday, April 7). So why not head into Glasgow city centre to try out the fondant filled sub?

Following the announcement, Rusty Warren, Senior NPD and Product Innovation Manager, at Subway, said: "We’re delighted to have collaborated with Cadbury this Easter.

"Our Italian White Bread and Cadbury Creme Eggs make the most flavoursome combination - a perfect seasonal treat!

"All the team at Subway® are especially excited to see how those Subway fans with a sweet tooth respond to this delicious SubMelt."

Charlotte Docker, Brand Executive for Cadbury Creme Egg, added: “When Subway approached us to create this eggs-traordinary Submelt, we simply couldn’t resist!

"The highly-anticipated Creme Egg season is in full swing and we’re so excited to launch this innovative product with Subway as a final hoorah of the season.

"We can’t wait for the response of those lucky enough to try this surprisingly delicious merging of sweet and savoury."
