VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stressed that 'Su-raj'(good governance) is as important for the country as 'swaraj' (self-rule).

"Now that the nation has started 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Mission', local trade-business and products are being strengthened; local trade is being made global," the Prime Minister said in Varanasi.
He was speaking at the Swarved Mahamandir during the 98th-anniversary celebrations of Sadguru Sadafaldeo Vihangam Yog Sansthan.
He was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
"Sadguru gave a mantra during freedom movement - of Swadeshi", he said, adding, "Sadguru fought for the Independence, but many such contributions were not mentioned prominently in the country's history."
PM Modi said, "whenever there are testing times, some or the other saint appears to change them."
"Our nation is wonderful. During testing, some saint appears to help us. It is India where the tallest leader of the freedom movement is called 'Mahatma' by the world," he added.
He also laid stress on girl education.
"Let's pledge that we will educate our daughters and will help them in skill development," he said.
'Kashi Vishwanath Dham a great exhibit'
He also spoke about the grand Kashi Vishwanath Dham, where he inaugurated a corridor on Monday.
"After completion, Kashi Vishwanath Dham will be a great exhibit not just for Kashi but for the entire country, " he said.
He added, "Kashi's energy is intact and it also keeps expanding."
The Prime Minister said, "Not just locals, but the entire world has witnessed development works in Kashi. The multi-pronged development strategy is now bringing desired results."
