An well-known Irish pub built back in 1823 and still displaying many Georgian features has been put up for sale.
The Chestnut bar and restaurant in the centre of Birr, Co Offaly is one of the counties' most well know and could soon have a new owner.
It is being brought to the market by Donal Boyd Auctioneers who describe the premises as "iconic".
Describing the pub, the auctioneers say: "Built in c.1823, The Chestnut is a terraced, five bay, two storey imposing building with integral carriage leading to a large, fully enclosed, rear garden area. It occupies a magnificent prime location in the heart of Birr Town Centre, fronting directly onto Green Street. Many original Georgian features can be seen from the outside and also throughout the building.
