Stunned hillwalker stumbles across 'cannabis allotment' at Scots beauty spot

A hillwalker stumbled upon a “cannabis allotment” yards from a path at a beauty spot.

The suspect plants were growing in hessian sacks, each tagged with the name of the strain of hash.

The walker found the plants in woods near Ben Bouie, a hill overlooking Helensburgh in Argyll.

They said: “I couldn’t believe it. The bags were not that difficult to find.

“It’s not what you expect to find in this area. There were about eight bags with name tags with the type of cannabis on it.

“There was also police tape around it so it looked like hopefully they would have been able to get the culprits responsible. It looked like a mini cannabis allotment.

The discovery was made near Helensburgh (DAILY RECORD)

“There are kids, families, dog walkers and all sorts up here so it was quite bold to try to hide it in plain sight, yards from a path.”

But police said they had no record of the discovery and were unable to comment.

The walker added: “If there is no police record of the site, it could perhaps be an elaborate prank.”
