Stuart Gibson provides Rangers cash injection as Japan-based investor increases Ibrox stake

Scottish businessman Stuart Gibson has invested £5 million into Rangers.

And the move has made the Japanese-based property tycoon the fourth largest shareholder at Ibrox.

Gibson has offered the investment as part of a part of a new share issue at the Ibrox club.

Existing shareholders have also increased their holding and taken the figure up to £8 million since the creation of new shares was approved at last year’s AGM.

Gibson was exclusively revealed by Record Sport earlier this year as the mystery investor who then provided a loan of £1million to Rangers.

And that has been converted into shares along with a further £4million in September to take his stake in the club to just over eight per cent.

That makes him the fourth highest shareholder as George Taylor and George Letham also add additional funds to the pot while Douglas Park - who replaced Dave King as Ibrox chairman in March - has contributed too.

Rangers’ board were granted permission by shareholders to issue new shares at the AGM 11 months ago.
