Strike by hospital security guards postponed

Planned strikes by hospital security guards have been postponed amid hopes of a breakthrough in a dispute over pay and conditions.

Workers at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital were due to take action from Tuesday evening.

The United Voices of the World union said the security guards had decided to give management “one last chance” to resolve the row.

The union warned that if there are no concrete proposals from the hospital, the workers will stage a six-week long strike from February 3.

Picket lines planned for Wednesday and Thursday this week, and a rally on Friday, have been cancelled.
