Strictly's Will Mellor claims double win with Nancy Xu after final heartache

Will Mellor has bounced back from the disappointment of missing out on a place in the Strictly Come Dancing final y notching up two victories in just one day on the show's live tour.

After a barnstorming start to his Strictly journey, when he and pro partner Nancy Xu blew everyone away with their week one jive to Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca, Will was quickly installed as the hot favourite to win the BBC show. The soap star then suffered a bad night in the ballroom when his scores dropped in week two, before picking up a virus and being ruled out of rehearsals.

After those setbacks Will and Nancy once again became high scorers in the closing weeks of the series, so it came as something of a shock that they didn't make the final, missing out after a semi final dance-off against Fleur East and Vito Coppola. Will made no secret of how gutted he was not to be in the final, with Nancy also in tears on camera as they were voted off.

Their victories were announced on the live tour's official Instagram account and gathered a big reaction from fans. One who was in the audience, replied: "Will and Nancy were brilliant this afternoon. Will is a natural showman and really interacted with the audience well," with another commenting: "Aww so happy for them both, I always think arena tours show who the public really liked."

After Will and Nancy's victories on Saturday, the Sunday martinee in Birmingham was won by Hamza and Jowita, with Helen and Kai topping the vote again on Sunday evening.
