Strictly's Shirley Ballas on her feet for Tony Adams as he apologises for 'outburst'

Shirley Ballas was up on her feet for Tony Adams on Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing, a week after his very public outburst against her, which he has now apologised for.

Head judge Shirley had an Addams Family style makeover to become Gomez for Strictly' s annual Halloween special and it was Tony and his pro partner Katya Jones who kicked things off with a Quickstep to The Devil Went Down to Georgia, with the former Arsenal defender looking very much the part in his devil themed attire.

Shirley was on her feet as the music came to an end and stayed there as she started to give her glowing feedback to the routine. She said: "Who would have thought at Strictly o'clock this evening on Halloween you would bring that kind of performance. I'm absolutely in shock."

As the audience cheered with delight and Katya looked ecstatic, Shirley added: "Your footwork, you worked really hard work and the footwork was really light, you actually did some clipping with your heels, which was lovely. You kept a lovely frame, you absolutely shocked me." Tony and Katya went onto receive terrific comments from the rest of the judges and a score of 31 out of 40, their highest so far by some distance.

And, it was when reacting to the scores that Tony offered an apology to Shirley for shouting "go home Shirley," when she gave her score for him last week. Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman, he said: "I made a comment last week, I ain't got a clue and I accept a 4, I accept an 8, it doesn't really matter, I don't understand." Turning to Katya, he continued: "I listen to her. But I've got to apologise for that comment. Listen, don't go home Shirley, you can stay...because she is Strictly."
