Strictly's Shirley Ballas fires 'mistakes will count' warning at Will Mellor

Shirley Ballas had a serious word of warning for Will Mellor after his latest Strictly Come Dancing performance, telling him 'mistakes are going to start counting.'

Like his Strictly rivals, Will danced to a song in honour of the BBC's 100th birthday, with him and pro partner Nancy Xu doing a Viennese Waltz to the theme tune from Line of Duty, with Will having starred in the much loved crime drama's third series. Will and Nancy were hoping to bounce back from a tough time of things last week, when they received their lowest score of the series for their rhumba.

Their downturn in marks came after Will was struck down by a virus, forcing him to sit out rehearsals for a number of days. He offered a positive update to concerned fans at the start of this week, when he said he was feeling a lot better and was keen to get stuck into training for the BBC special.

Thankfully for Will, there was to be no repeat of last week, with the judges' comments a lot more positive seven days on and his and Nancy's scores jumping up 9 to 32 out of 40. However, Shirley didn't let her feedback pass without a warning to Will, after noticing an error in his routine.

She told the former Two Pints of Lager star: "I liked it in some areas, but when power knocks you off your feet when you're doing your chain steps and you can now not capture your own balance, it's not just in this dance, it'll be in every dance.

"I can tell you're 100 per cent committed Will. I can tell you really want to make the final, I can feel it. But what I'm saying to you is don't over push everything, as that will knock you the other way, 'cos those kind of mistakes are going to start counting."

Shirley added: "I love the performance, I love the fact you give it your all, but remember...if you push too hard and you go off balance, you're going to struggle."
