Strictly's Motsi Mabuse hits back after being questioned about spending time away from family

Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse has hit back after being asked if she minds being away from her family in Germany as she judges and films the BBC show in the UK.

The 41-year-old professional dancer and teacher shares a four-year-old daughter with husband and dance partner Evgenij Voznyuk. The family live back in Germany, with Motsi travelling to the UK to be part of Strictly when it airs on the BBC.

After finding success as a professional dancer, Motsi went on to appear on Let’s Dance, the German version of Strictly Come Dancing, initially as a professional dancer but later as a judge on the show.

The judge has been part of the Strictly panel since 2018, appearing alongside Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke. She took over from dancer Darcey Bussell, and her sister Oti was already performing as a professional on the show.

Speaking on her Twitter, Motsi shared a snippet of an interview where she was asked about finding it hard to be away from her family whilst she filmed in the UK.

Seemingly annoyed at the question, Motsi tweeted: "Let’s enjoy the final !!!!! @bbcstrictly!! When they go low ? We go high".

In the article pictured, Motsi had been asked how she felt being away from her hamily and if she would continue to be a part of Strictly.

Motsi answered: "I've worked hard all my life and I'll be on Strictly for as long as Strictly want me. When it says: "Madame Mabuse, we're done with you," I will walk away.

"You will not hear any scandal from me. I'll just bow down, say thanks and pass the baton. I want this beautiful show to last for ever. It has filled my life.

"I've been on the German show for 16 years, then I came here too. That little girl from Africa would never have dreamed of the life she's living now.

"When I think about it, I really have to tighten up my tummy because I could cry."

Fans rushed in to praise Motsi, and beg her to stay part of Strictly. One fan tweeted: "One of my favourite judges on this show: always supportive, always constructive, always affirming and always truthful. I love listening to what you give to the dancers each week, long may you continue."

Another added: "You bring joy. Please continue."

A third wrote: "They wouldn’t be insinuating that you’re neglecting your family by working if you were a man! You’re the best Motsi x we love seeing you every week and Strictly is better for having you x pure joy."
