Strictly's Kym Marsh in tears over dance blunder during emotional tribute to late son

Kym Marsh was left fighting tears at the end of her Strictly performance on Saturday after making an error during a personal routine.

The soap star took to the BBC One dance floor with partner Graziano Di Prima to perform the American Smooth to Chasing Cars by Cinematic Pop.

Ahead of the dance in a pre-recorded clip, Kym opened up about how personal the song is to her after she lost her baby Archie at 21 weeks, after he was born prematurely.

The former Coronation Street star said the song had become very personal to her and her family after their loss.

Yet, during the emotional performance Kym accidentally raised the wrong leg during a lift move in a mistake that was then pointed out by the judging panel during their feedback.

After the dance Kym shared a warm hug with professional dance partner Graziano, as he was heard telling her the performance was ‘beautiful’.

We're over half way through Strictly Come Dancing's 2022 season with Blackpool and the competition couldn't be more intense.

Helen Skelton has been creeping up the Strictly leaderboard after her jive last weekend, while Ellie Taylor's rumba plummeted her to the bottom.

This week the Glitterball hopefuls took on a batch of new dances and tracks, ranging from the samba to the pasa doble.

Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcomed Strictly Come Dancing viewers as the BBC One show prepares to return to Blackpool next week for the first time in two years.

The much-loved themed episode had been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic but will return for the 2022 edition of the hit ballroom dancing show.

Instead of the studio’s ballroom floor, the celebrities travel to the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom to sashay onto the dance floor in front of judges Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.

This comes after Ellie Simmonds became the sixth celebrity to depart the dance floor in Strictly after facing Molly Rainford in the dreaded dance-off.

Both couples were voted to perform their routines again, with Ellie and professional dance partner Nikita Kuzmin performing their charleston to Too Darn Hot from Kiss Me Kate.

Molly and her dance partner Carlos Gu then performed their foxtrot to You Make Me Happy by My Sun and My Stars in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

Ultimately, all four judges decided to save Molly and Carlos from elimination, leaving Ellie and Nikita to go home.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday evening on BBC One.
