Strictly's Kai Widdrington names 'iconic' star as dream partner after early exit blow last year

Kai Widdrington has revealed his 'dream' celebrity partner for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing, after suffered a crushing early exit blow last year. And the star in question is none other than the iconic Miriam Margolyes.

World champion dancer and former Dancing With The Stars: Ireland pro Kai joined the Strictly family in 2021, being well tipped to be in with a chance of winning the the Glitterball trophy alongside TV host AJ Odudu, before disaster struck just days before the final when she was injured in training.

The pair were forced to watch from the sidelines as Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice took the title; with Kai hoping to have a less eventful second run in the BBC ballroom, when he returned for another series last year. Kai was teamed up with Loose Women host Kaye Adams but sadly, he didn't get anywhere near the final, as they became the first couple to get their marching orders from the judges, after just two performances.

Talking about his dream Strictly partner with the Express, Kai said: "For me, it would be Miriam Margolyes, I want to dance with her.

“I think I’d lose weight just from the laughter!"

He added: "My abs maybe would get more defined and I might look like one of the European boys.”
