Strictly's Kai Widdrington discusses new girlfriend after ex Nadiya Bychkova says they're 'not friends'

Strictly Come Dancing professional Kai Widdrington has raved over his new girlfriend Chloe Wells following his split from Nadiya Bychkova.

Last year, fellow pro Bychkova, 35, admitted she was “not friends” with Widdrington, 29, following their split last June after two years together.

Widdrington went Instagram official with his new partner nine months after their break-up and addressed their romance during his appearance on ITV’s Lorraine on Wednesday.

The dancer and choreographer said he’s the “happiest he’s ever been” and admitted it’s “largely” due to his new relationship.

The BBC star made the revelation while telling host Christine Lampard about his hope that he’ll be given a celebrity partner on Strictly this year, instead of being an extra who takes part in group dances.

"You can either be sad about it, or ask what you can change and improve in your life,” he said.

Discussing the changes he’s made in his life, Widdrington went on: “I'm the happiest I've ever been and I'm in the best psychical shape I've ever been in since I was 17 and I'm looking forward to my tour.

“I'm really excited and I'm in a really good place."

Lampard said: "That's probably because you found a gorgeous girl, and that's all part of it as well."

Widdrington replied: "I'm feeling really good. I've started a new chapter in my life. Things come at the perfect time. I'm very very happy and it's largely down to my other half."

He reportedly met Wells at a pub near his west London home and they “hit if off from the start”.

The office worker has “absolutely no interest in the limelight - she just likes Kai for Kai," a source previously told The Sun.

While the couple keep things largely out of the spotlight, last month Widdrington shared a sweet snap of them on Instagram and wrote: "Happiness is underrated.”

He announced his split from Bychkova last summer, putting the break-up down to the pressure of working and touring together.

Discussing their split at the Pride of Britain awards in October, Bychkova told The Mirror: "We work together but we are not friends and that's okay.

“One thing I can tell you is that when you see me dancing with him it will be amazing because I'm a professional."
