Strictly's Johannes Radebe shares touching message about former dance partner John Waite as he talks about 'challenges' ahead

As excitement for Strictly Come Dancing builds, with the celebrity contestants being announced one by one which you can keep up with here, one professional dancer has shared a touching and sweet message about his former partner.

Last year Johannes Radebe was partnered with John Waite in the first all-male coupling to compete in Strictly Come Dancing. Both found it very emotional at times and wanted to show viewers that you can be whoever you want to be.

John and Johannes came second on the show, as EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice won, and now Johannes is looking back at his time with John. Posting some of his favourite memories of them on the show on Instagram Johannes wrote a touching message to John.

He said: "I can't believe it's been a year since John came into my life and what a fabulous and truly special Strictly journey we had."

Johannes added he was excited for the "challenges" ahead. He said: "Not only is John an amazing dancer, he is an incredible friend and I can't imagine a life without him in it... Although my Strictly journey with John has come to a close, I'm feeling the energy and magic of the show again and I am looking forward to the next Strictly chapter and the excitement and challenges this will bring."

Current celebrities announced to take part in the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing include comedian Ellie Taylor, singer Matt Goss, and presenter Tyler West. Any of the new contestants could be partnered with Johannes and the celebrity and professional dancer pairings are expected to be announced at the launch show.

There has been no start date announced for Strictly Come Dancing and last year the launch show aired on September 18 with the Strictly series officially kicking off a week later on September 25. Strictly will also see the return of judges Craig Revel Horwood, 57, Motsi Mabuse, 41, Shirley Ballas, 61, and Anton Du Beke, 66. While Tess Daly, 53, and Claudia Winkleman, 50, will present as usual.
