Strictly's Jayde Adams says women on show 'get it in the neck' worse than the men

Strictly Come Dancing alum Jayde Adams has said that women on the BBC show "get it worse than men" when it comes to negative comments on social media platforms.

The comedian, 37, spoke about her experience whilst on the companion show It Takes Two yesterday. She appeared alongside her former dance partner Karen Hauer, 40.

They were interviewed the spin-off show's co-host Rylan Clark, 34. It came following Jayde and Karen having been voted out of the competition series over the weekend.

The segment saw Jayde being shown positive messages from fans. Rylan asked about the response she's received, saying that social media can be an "awful place" too.

Jayde has addressed trolls directly recently. Discussing social media, she said on It Takes Two: "For every horrible comment, there's a whole bunch of them that are lovely.

"I just hope with my resilience I can show people that sticks and stones may break our bones but names will never hurt us. I really hope that's something that I've left as a legacy.

She added that women on the BBC show "get it worse than the men". Jayde mentioned herself, dance partner Kauren and judge Shirley Ballas, 62, whilst discussing such.

She said: "Women specifically on this show get it in the neck [on social media]. Whether it's me, whether it's Karen, whether it’s Shirley, the women get it worse than the men."

During the discussion, Rylan noted that although there are positive responses, it can be the negative ones that "sticks with [you]". Jayde agreed with the presenter's assessment.

Jayde said that she hopes her resilience will have a positive impact in the future. And she isn't the only person from Strictly to have addressed trolls on social media recently.

Head judge Shirley has herself addressed negative feedback on social media in recent weeks. She has responded to trolls on Twitter with positive messages.

She recently encouraged viewers to be respectful and to just "enjoy the show". She made the remark after receiving "hurtful messages" from some fans of the BBC series.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday (October 29) on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 6.50pm. This week's results show will air the following evening from 7.20pm.
