Strictly's Jayde Adams hits out at fans who criticised her for Amy Dowden 'snub'

Jayde Adams has slammed fans of Strictly Come Dancing who targeted her over an Amy Dowden "snub".

The comedian, 38, was paired with pro dancer Karen Hauer on the competition before they were eliminated in week five.

During her time on the show she expertly handled criticism aimed at her, but she's now revealed the latest cruel, abusive email she has received from a troll.

Following Jayde's appearance on a special episode of The Weakest Link earlier this week, a fan took offence to her actions as she voted off pro dancer Amy Dowden, prompting them to send the nasty response.

Jayde decided enough was enough and shared the troll's words on her Instagram to her 140k followers. The subject of the email read: "Complaint about you voting off Amy Dowden in the weakest link". [sic]

In the body, the user wrote: "Jayde, You really upset me by voting Amy Dowden off on the weakest link as she is my favourite dancer and I love her.

"You are obviously jealous of her figure and beautiful looks. It was really mean of you, she is a maths genius and maths is the hardest thing in the world. At least she lasted longer than you on Strictly, bye."

It was clear Jayde was unimpressed by the letter and she captioned her upload: "Goodbye to the core Strictly fandom. I’m going to miss your weird emails.

"With all the love and compassion in the world; please don’t come to my tour next year."

Earlier on BBC Sounds Woman's Hour with Krupa Padhy, Jayde admitted she had chosen to tackle insults thrown at her on the show as she believes they will "never stop".

She told the host: "I knew it was going to happen to me because every time I'm on TV someone comments on my weight, I just knew it was going to happen.

"I could do one of two things, I could ignore it, or I could tackle it. I found it funny, I could show people who follow me some resilience."

Jayde continued: "Someone wrote, 'this is Jayde Adam's rocking up to Strictly', with a picture of the Michelin Man, and I laughed!"

She confessed that of course she would prefer people not to write negative comments, but knows they are looking for a type of response she isn't willing to provide.

"The most useful thing to do it to not get at them, it's to show resilience because it's never going to stop," she added.
