Strictly's Helen Skelton makes late night dash home after live tour win

Helen Skelton braced herself to go from the sequin and sparkle of the Strictly Come Dancing tour to the much less glamorous but very important job of doing the school run on Monday.

A month on from being beaten to the Glitterball trophy in the Strictly final, as Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal triumphed, former Blue Peter presenter Helen has joined the new champions and many other stars from the BBC show on its annual tour. It kicked off in Birmingham on Friday night and, having had the 'weird' process of switching partner from Gorka Marquez to Kai Widdrington; Helen had the dream start to tour life as she and Kai won the audience vote on night one.

The result was lapped up by fans who were in the audience at the Utilita Arena and those on social media, with many declaring it 'justice' for Helen and Gorka not winning the final in December. There were five shows in Birmingham, before the Strictly tour made the move to Nottingham and, after a win for Hamza and Jowita and two for Will Mellor and Nancy Xu, Helen and Kai won again on Sunday night.

But, rather than toast their victory with a few drinks in the hotel bar, Helen got straight into the back of a very luxurious car to be chauffeur driven back home to Cumbria, so she could be back in time to take her sons to school, having not seen them for a few days.

As she fully enjoyed her sumptuous surroundings in the back of her plush ride home, Helen told her many Instagram followers she was 'racing' back for the school run, adding: "What a crazy, mad few days. I mean, so much fun. If you came to the show in Birmingham, I hope you enjoyed it and maybe you're coming to the next Strictly show. If you do, fingers crossed you have a blast."

Before the Strictly tour kicked off last week, Helen landed a new job as host of BBC daytime programme Morning Live, as many viewers championed her to be full time presenter.
