Strictly's Fleur East breaks down as she gets this series' first perfect score

Strictly Come Dancing's Fleur East broke down in tears as she received the first perfect score of the series.

The Sax singer danced her Couple's Choice routine to a Destiny's Child megamix, with her family all there in the audience as she wowed the judges with her routine. In an emotional night, Fleur spoke of how much she wished her dad - who passed away - could have joined her at Blackpool because he loved the show so much.

The judges loved the routine and she received a perfect score of 40 out of 40. There were screams and shouts from the audience as Craig Revel Horwood finally pulled out his 10-paddle for the first time in this series.

As she got the score, she broke down in tears whilst Claudia showed her how much it meant to her family.

Her mother held her head in her hands in disbelief as she cried at her daughter's triumph whilst Fleur was emotional as she hugged her professional dancer partner Vito Coppola. The pair were thrilled to receive the score.

Asked how she felt, Fleur admitted she was speechless.

It has been an emotional few weeks on Strictly and there's no bigger week on the BBC One Latin and ballroom show than Blackpool week. The remaining celebrities have been given the chance to dance at the iconic Blackpool Tower ballroom, a special place for the show and the wider dance community.

Singer Fleur found herself in tears earlier this week when her co-hosts at Hits Radio surprised her with a very special flypast. She broke down in tears as they organised the special moment as part of their Vote Fleur campaign.

Emotional, she told them: "No! Are you joking?! 'Hits Radio Vote Fleur on Strictly'. How have you managed to do this it looks amazing!

"How did you pull this off? It looks so good guys I’m actually quite emotional. I don’t know if it’s the wind in my eye or I’m actually crying – you’re amazing, you absolutely smashed it. This is so cool."

On the show last week, both Shirley Ballas and Will Mellor were in tears after his emotional dance to Three Times A Lady. In the VT before the performance, Will called his mother and she told how Will lost his father during the pandemic following the routine, Shirley was visibly emotional as she reflected on her own family and admitted she missed her son.

"After watching the VT and the beautiful relationship you have with your mum is just amazing. It makes me miss my own son," she said, "Your dancing, your feeling, the ambience, the package, the way you danced, the suit, the atmosphere you set and the footwork."

*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
