Craig Revel Horwood has reportedly sparked a noise row with his neighbours at his £1.8 million country mansion.
The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 60, bought the seven-bedroom rural retreat in Northamptonshire in 2021 and wants to add a swim spa and hot tub to his pool.
The choreographer is also planning to raise his back garden to build a terrace around the pool in the home, which already has a lake and a pond.
He is facing backlash from neighbours, who claim there’s already “excessive noise” coming from the pool parties the BBC star hosts at the pad.
“Without vegetation along their low wall, there is already excessive noise heard from their garden when they regularly entertain,” a neighbour wrote in a letter objecting to the proposed works obtained by The Sun.
“The shape of the land with the trees along the river means residents can easily hear talking and noise from their gardens around the pool area.”
The letter states: “Raising the terrace area will exacerbate this if no trees or noise reduction is installed along the low walls by the gates.
“We object to the raising of the area unless some noise reduction can be installed along the boiler rooms walls and around where this raising will be.
“If noise reduction, for example trees along their wall, can be put in then we don't object to this but the noise that comes from their garden is already quite substantial.”
Revel Horwood was also reportedly forced to call in the Environment Agency due to flooding in his garden, caused by demolishing walls and digging foundations during previous renovations.
It is understood that he plans to carry out flood compensation works as part of his new application.
Council officials will reportedly make a decision on the application for the pool next month.
The Standard has contacted Revel Horwood’s representative for comment.
Revel Horwood shared a photo of the finished open-plan kitchen of his mansion on Instagram in August, writing: “After what feels like a lifetime, the renovations are finally underway.
“Fingers crossed our full house renovation is finished in a fortnight but it might take a smidge longer!”
He previously revealed he moved to the country after growing tired of getting recognised in London.
“In the early years of Strictly I could get around Camden pretty well unnoticed, but as the show grew I was finding it increasingly difficult to get from A to B without being recognised,” he wrote for the Daily Mail in 2023.
“Most people who approach me are really lovely and I love chatting to them. But when I am in a hurry, feeling ugly as hell, or just wanting to be another face in the crowd, it can get a bit much.”
Recalling when he first saw the home, he added: “here was a breathtaking view of what looked like an old-fashioned manor house (although it’s only ten years old), standing in lush lawns and picturesque countryside.”
The dancer said the place had “great bones” and was “crying out” for a refurbishment.
