Strictly fans slam judges as Gethin Jones supports Kym Marsh

Fans of Strictly Come Dancing have accused the judges of being too harsh on Kym Marsh after the former Hear’Say singer found herself bottom of the votes at the Friday night (December 2) show. The 46-year-old performed an energetic Eighties-style cha-cha to Fame from Fame with her partner Graziano Di Prima but the pair were awarded just 34 points.

Coronation Street actor Will Mellor and presenter Helen Skelton received the top scores from the judges with both getting 39 points during musicals week.

Kym, who returned to the dancefloor having skipped last week’s show after a positive Covid-19 test, was told by judge Motsi Mabuse that she was “shining all of the time” but said she “would have liked more rotation”.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to vent their frustration at what they felt was Kym's low vote. @TanishaChloe_x said: "Ngl pretty fed up of seeing kym get undermarked every week. I mean that cha cha should’ve got all 9s at least!!!" @lucykatilette agreed, saying: "Exactly, they definitely have favourites and make it so obvious. I’m so nervous for the results."

@Lynn_The_Bin said: "Kym - I loved this cha cha and I thought she was a bit undermarked. Not usually a fan of this dance but the music suited it. Craig's comments and then 8 didn't tie up. 9 for me."

And @MALoveley19ish added: "Kym you deserved better tonight and I’m going to miss seeing you dance next week."

Morning Live co-star Gethin Jones told the Express that he is backing Kym to win the show. He said her dance this week was "amazing", adding: "TV is so weird as well you have to rely on each other and trust each other and I think we have that.

"We have this brother and sister relationship, there's loads of banter flying around but at the end of the day I'm sure she knows I'm there to support her and will continue to do so. I was glad to see her back dancing."

Gethin went on to say he has enjoyed watching his co-star "get better" as the weeks go by, adding: "Graziano has been pushing her."
