Strictly Come Dancing's Kevin Clifton shares hidden battle as he's supported by Stacey Dooley over 'wonderful five years'

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton has bravely told his fans of his hidden struggle before enjoying the most 'wonderful five years' since meeting his girlfriend Stacey Dooley. The documentary maker was among the first to support her man as he shared a sweet post about how his life has turned around.

Kevin, who starred as a professional dancer in the BBC One dance contest from 2013 to 2019, where he finished in second place four times before lifting the Glitterball trophy with Stacey in 2018, said he was "celebrating the most wonderful past 5 years" and thanked his partner for helping him "fall in love with dancing again."

In a candid Instagram post, Kevin shared a photo of himself from a time he wasn't "doing well" some years ago "Don’t like to talk about it too much in public but a few years ago I wasn’t always doing as well as I always tried to make out," he typed in the caption.

The 40-year-old then added: "Today I’m celebrating the most wonderful past 5 yrs." Kevin shared a series of photos from the last five years, the first one showing him looking more downcast and vacant, followed by a piece of paper which read: "Just remember five years ago, you dreamed about where are you now."

He then shared a photo of himself and Stacey staring adoringly at their daughter, Minnie, who they welcomed back in January, as Kevin held the newborn in his arms. Other photos showed Kevin performing on stage after leaving Strictly and taking on multiple roles in big theatre shows.

He was also seen lifting the glitterball trophy with Stacey who was quick to comment on the honest post: "My angel. We love you endlessly." To which the dancer and actor replied: "Love you and Mins."

Kevin's sister Joanne, who also appeared on Strictly, told her brother: "Proud of you," with the message being echoed by Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas who also commented: "Proud of you @kevinclifton." Former Emmerdale actor and Strictly 2019 winner Kelvin Fletcher posted: "The MAN."

Another former winner Ore Oduba posted: "So much to be proud of brother." And Italian dancer Graziano di Prima praised: "So proud of you my friend." Judge Motsi Mabuse simply typed: "Growth," in the comments and Daisy Lowe agreed: "I hear you! So happy for you Kev." And fans were also wanting to share their love and support.
