A Liverpool community is in a "state of shock" after a man with stabbed to death in a home.
Merseyside Police were called to reports that a 50-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in a house on Bridge Road, Litherland on Sunday, October 30. The victim was rushed to hospital with a life-threatening injury at around 4.45am and died later that day.
A 42-year-old woman, from Litherland, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. She is still in police custody for questioning. A cordon was placed around the home on Sunday as forensic officers worked in the property.

A mobile police station van was also parked outside of the home as officers continue to interview witnesses, make house-to-house inquiries and check CCTV footage. People on Bridge Road, and nearby streets spoke of their shock and sadness at the incident that unfolded.
One woman, who asked not to be named, said: "I'm just in shock. The pub had a Halloween party that night which sounded as you would expect at kicking out time, so that's what I thought I heard.
"You have things happen every so often but nothing like this, it's just horrible to think about. There was a cordon there all Sunday but nobody really spoke about it or knew what was happening."
Another woman, living on a nearby street said: "I think everyone is just in a state of shock. The first I read about it was on The ECHO and I couldn't believe it.
"I don't really know the people on that row of houses as you just drive in and out of the road. I'm surprised I didn't hear anything as I sleep with my windows open."
A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death of the man.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Caton said: "This was a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. An investigation is now underway, which is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has happened which has led to this tragic incident.”
