Strasbourg Christmas market shooting suspect killed, say police sources

AFP file picture

French police on Thursday shot and killed the suspected gunman behind Tuesday’s deadly attack on Strasbourg’s Christmas market, several police sources said.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old French national Chérif Chekatt, had been on the run for two days before he was found and killed in Strasbourg’s Neudorf/Meinau district.

Three people were killed, and more than a dozen others were injured in the Christmas market shooting on Tuesday. The suspect is believed to have acted alone.
