Stranger flags down grandad in car to warn him 'he is in danger'

A kind stranger signalled for a pensioner to pull over after spotting a dangerous problem with his car.

Ernie Lloyd was driving in Moreton in Wirral on Tuesday, when another driver flagged him down and told him his car was leaking a lot of petrol.

The 83-year-old, who had left his mobile phone at home, had taken his car for a test drive after having a new battery fitted when the problem occurred.

After calling a garage for Ernie, the stranger arranged for a pick up truck to take him there and waited with him before bringing him home.

Ernie's granddaughter, Stacey Lloyd Dixon, said she was left in tears at the kind gesture and is now hoping to find the driver to thank him.

Stacey, 32, told the ECHO: "My grandad went to test his battery and this gentleman started beeping him and flashing his lights at him so he pulled over.

"It was leaking a lot of petrol and he said 'don't drive it as it's really dangerous.'

"Not only did he stop him and say 'you're in danger', he helped him out and organised a pick up truck and got him to a garage.

"He waited with my grandad and made sure everything was OK and brought him home."

Stacey put a post up on Facebook after what happened in a bid to find the driver to thank him.

Stacey said: "I was really overwhelmed. Me and my mum care for my grandad, we lost my grandmother a couple of months ago so we're quite protective of him.

"It was so kind of him. I wanted to reach out to say thank you and to show there's still good out there - someone will help out if you're in need."
