Story behind Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Instagram profile picture

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry only set up their Instagram page a few days ago, but it already has millions of followers.

Fans can't wait to see what kind of snaps the couple, who are expected to become parents this month , will post on the page.

But the new page already contains a few photos - including a profile picture.

The snap they selected for the important slot if their joint monogram in white on a purple background.

Their motif was revealed just after their wedding, and it's understood they first used it on their thank you notes to their wedding guests and to those who sent them presents.

Cheeky photos Meghan Markle shared online that she could never post on her new account

Meghan and Harry also have their own personal designs, but their joint one works perfectly by combining the M and H together beautifully.

As with all royal monograms, a crown is sitting on top of the initials.

Monograms are traditional in the Royal Family and all couples have them for their official stationary.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's design is very difference, placing the two letters on top of each other, while Prince Charles and Camilla used the same overlapping technique as the Sussexes.

Royals you didn't know were on social media as Meghan Markle rejoins Instagram

Meghan and Harry launched their Instagram page on Tuesday by sharing nine photos of their charity work and Royal Tour.

The caption reads: "Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues.

"We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.- Harry & Meghan"

Meghan and Harry previously used the Kensington Palace Instagram account, which was joint with the Cambridges.

The new account is part of the couple's split away from the KP household as they begin to set up their own as a married couple.
