Stormzy has recorded the entire music video for his new single “Rainfall” inside the video game Watch Dogs: Legion

The acclaimed grime artist will also appear in the game as a future version of himself.

Stormzy’s musical performance and likeness were digitised within the game through motion capture and voice-acting.

The game’s creative director, Clint Hocking, said: “We are thrilled for Stormzy to be a part of Watch Dogs: Legion. His music, and what he speaks to as an artist, is extremely relevant for our London setting, and for the larger themes of our game.”

Watch Dogs: Legion is the third game in Ubisoft’s hit Watch Dogs franchise, and is scheduled to release on current-gen consoles on 29 October.

The game is set in a dystopic post-Brexit London in which citizens are surveilled by an oppressive authoritarian regime.

Players have the ability to “recruit” any of thousands of random Londoners to the hacker resistance, manually controlling any one of them.

It was also recently announced that Legion will be available on the forthcoming Xbox Series X and S consoles at launch.

“It’s been almost a year since we had Stormzy in the studio to film his performance. He lit up the room, and captivated us all. He’s a great collaborator, and it was a career highlight for us to get to work with him.”
