Storm Jorge warning as CalMac warn of Isle of Arran weekend ferries disruption

Storm Jorge could cause another weekend of disruption on ferry services between the mainland and the Isle of Arran in North Ayrshire.

CalMac has today issued advice to customers and warned that sailings could be delayed or subject to short-notice cancellations.

It has been a long month for those making the journey to and from Arran with storms and technical faults leading to days of disruption and cancellations.

Strong winds are forecast for the weekend with exposed coastal areas likely to bear the brunt of the gusts.

In a statement on its website regarding sailings on Saturday between Ardrossan and Brodick, CalMac said: "Due to the forecast of severe weather, service will be liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice throughout the day."

A similar 'be aware' information update has been published for services on Sunday and this has also been applied to the Largs to Millport Cumbrae Slip route.

Services also run between Tarbert, Argyll & Bute and Lochranza in the north of Arran.

Up-to-the-minute information on sailings can be found by visiting CalMac's website, click here.
