Stonehouse community group pick up grant

The Friends of Stonehouse Park group are celebrating after receiving a grant of £300.

The funding, from South Lanarkshire Council, will be split equally to cover storage and advertising costs.

FOSP secretary Karen Kelly said: “We are delighted to accept the award from the Communities Fund. While it’s not overly exciting to be awarded for storage, this will practically help us with all our materials for events and allow the money gained from public fundraising to be used directly in planning more park events.

“We anticipate the advertising money will assist us to revisit the community consultation from our feasibility study. As this was carried out in 2016, we need to update it and make sure we are still representing the community’s wishes.

“We anticipate work beginning this year on the goals of the study and are patiently waiting on time and resources from SLC. The committee continue to be fully committed to making the study a reality.”

FOSP are taking part in the #upstreambattle and Keep Scotland Beautiful ‘Big Clean-Up’ campaign, and will be hosting a litter pick on Saturday (April 13) from 2 to 4pm.
